Alright so this is something I have been working on as a wedding gift to my husband(we are legally married) for right before the ceremony. I wanted to make him something that would express the many reasons why I love him.
I wanted to include all our cute personal quirky things. Since I am a scrapbooker I plan to give him a scrapbook of our year as a Christmas gift every year (I gave him our first one last year). So, when thinking about this I didn't want to include actual pictures of us… I chose to go way back to my jr. high/high school days and use magazines to collage in my book. If I didn't find any pictures in the magazines I made my own pictures with my scrapbooking paper.
You can choose to make it like I did or make it a mini scrapbook with actual photos of you. THIS WOULD BE A GREAT GIFT FOR A MILITARY CARE PACKAGE.
1.)First step to making your own is to list the reasons you love your man/woman.
Here are some I came up with for me and my husband:
-because you wash the dishes…sometimes
-because you dance with me even when you don't want to dance...
-because you make sure to no longer squeeze the toothpaste in the middle (my pet peeve)…
-because you love the hippie in me
-because you still hold the door open for me…
-because you took interest in baseball because you know I like it...
-because you cook, sometimes even if I don't ask…
-because you offer to make me coffee or tea just because (especially when I'm sick)…
-because you make the effort not to leave the toilet seat up (every woman's pet peeve)
-because you follow me around the house turning off lights in rooms I'm no longer in… (I tend forget to turn lights off, His pet peeve).
You get the idea.
2.) Then you look through magazines/your scrapbooking stuff and cut and collect images or personal photos that help reflect the the reasons you love him.
3.) Choose colored pages and build your book. All you need is GLUE, PAPER and CHIPBOARD (or something similar, I used a FedEx envelope and the video below). With the envelope my book is estimated at 9"x 6.5".
*My pages didn't align perfectly so I used jagged scissors to cut the edges of my pages so it looks like I did it on purpose and it gave the book character.
I followed this video to put my mini scrapbook together.
4.) Then you begin to create your collage/add your photos. Proceed to add a hand written note on why you love him with its corresponding collage/image. I think a hand written note makes it more personal especially if your sending it in a care package, because no matter how good/bad your writing is, they know it's yours. (I have terrible writing but my husband finds it cute).
<---These are some images I made out of scrapbook paper (I just googled whatever the item I needed "toilet clipart" "light bulb clipart" "toothpaste clipart") That way I could see basic lines and draw it easily.
This is a work in progress… I still have a few blank pages so I can continue to add stuff as I come up with more. These are all my pages so far.
Last bit of advice… spray it with your perfume.
