I am Janice, a 25 year old southern California girl who recently married her love, a US Army Infantryman; currently in Afghanistan. Our relationship has been anything but traditional from the very beginning. We met here in Los Angeles over 2 years ago (he was my friend's, friend's, best friend). We didn't speak to one another much then. A year later he comes back from his first deployment and he decides to tell me how much he has liked me for so long but he waited to tell me so he could accomplish some personal goals. At this point he is stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. So, he comes back to California on a week leave and we go on our first date. That was the beginning of our long distance relationship. We pretty much saw one another for about 4 days every 2 months with about 3 single weeks where he came home for leave. 10 months later we are engaged, a week later we are legally married. Did all that just happen in a matter of 12 months?! Yes!
Quite a whirlwind, If you would have asked me a year and a half ago where I thought I would be, here, definitely wouldn't be it, but God really has his own plans and after giving him control, things turned out wonderfully! I know my family really didn't like the fact we did things so quickly, truth is sometimes I wish I could have had a more traditional relationship for the sake of them. I know my journey has been created just for me, and the fact it is far different than anyone expected (including me), is something I have embraced. I am in love with my love story, exactly because it is all mine. He is currently deployed during what is supposed to be the honeymoon phase of our relationship. Yet we are having to go through very difficult situations that come with war, many things of which most couples don't ever have to deal with. I wouldn't have it any other way, we have matured, learned and grown in so many ways even though we have been apart for about 5 months now. For us its about Faith, Love and holding on to whatever ride God has for us.
Crowns and Capes if for all of us that are Queens and Superheroes, who have to take on life and whatever it brings without missing a beat. I invite you to share in my experiences as well as sharing your own with me. Now on to our next adventure....
